About Imagining Indonesia’s Energy Future

COVID-19 has brought global energy demand dropped at levels not seen in 70 years. But at the same time, renewable sources saw their share in electricity substantially increase at record levels in many countries. The interest of various countries to increase renewable energy has started before COVID -19.

In 2019, Bloomberg New Energy Finance said new solar farms accounted for nearly half the world's new electricity generation. During 2020, Indonesia's renewable energy capacity only increased by 176 megawatts to a combined total of 10,4 gigawatts. This number is still way below the 23% renewables target by 2025. How can Indonesia learn from the energy transition in other countries? And how can Indonesia boost the energy transition process? These various matters will be discussed in the Energy Transition Virtual Forum.
