Diah Saminarsih: SDGs Progress in Indonesia

In this episode, our host Gundy Cahyadi talks with Diah Saminarsih, one of the Senior Advisers for Director-General of WHO, about Indonesian efforts to adopt and implement the concept of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

In the SDG Index 2021, Indonesia is stable at 97th out of 193 participating countries. Diah said the challenge to pursuing the next record is to rely on the role of the younger generation who dominate 60% of the population. Especially in improving the health and education sectors which can be a trigger for the improvement of other goals.

On the other hand, the pandemic has been set back how Indonesia perceived gender equality. Gender-based violence has increased during pandemic, making the comparison of In every death of a man, there are two death of women. So, it's thriving for people when government passed the sexual violence law.
