Telkom emerged as a leading telecommunications company at the Bali Annual Telkom International Conference (BATIC) 2023, held in Nusa Dua, Bali, on 5-8 September 2023. This eighth edition of the international event was attended by 1,000 participants from 300 global companies representing 40 countries.

Telkom emphasized the importance of business transformation. Honesti Basyir, Director of Group Business Development at Telkom, stated that the company is now adhering to a strategy known as the "five bold moves," comprising InfraCo, Data CenterCo, DigiCo, B2B Digital IT Service Co, and Fixed Mobile Convergence (FMC).

"The five bold moves strategy aligns with global trends to anticipate the conditions of the Indonesian telecommunications market. This strategy places a focus on digital connectivity, digital platforms, and digital services," Honesti said in a written statement.

One of the steps related to FMC is the decision by PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk. to shift its focus to the business-to-business (B2B) segment. This was achieved by transferring the IndiHome internet service to Telkomsel.

Meanwhile, Bogi Witjaksono, Director of Wholesale and International Services at Telkom, emphasized that the company's shift towards the B2B segment is motivated by a belief in the long-term potential of this business segment.

Bogi explained that the B2B segment may not be as substantial as the business-to-consumer (B2C) segment. However, B2B serves as an enabler for broader B2C development.

"B2B is an enabler for other businesses and contributes to the sustainability of B2C," Bogi stated.

In reality, the telecommunications industry holds significant potential to drive digital transformation. Achieving this requires collaboration and cooperation to provide reliable infrastructure.

Budi Satria Dharma Purba, Chief Executive Officer of Telin, believes that collaboration is imperative in the era of digital transformation. Collaboration can take the form of establishing an open platform for telecommunications companies to jointly bear the burden of investment.

Vincent Stevens, Senior Managing Director of Delta Partners, elaborated that the telecommunications industry's great prospects lie in Web3 innovation and artificial intelligence (AI). These two technologies will continue to evolve and collaborate.

"Most importantly, this can only succeed if there is connectivity, cloud infrastructure, security, and other enabling technologies in place for this revolution," Vincent said during the Preparing Web3 Economy session.

During the session titled "The New Telco Business Model” at BATIC 2023, Elisabetta Romano, Chief Network Operations & Wholesale Officer of TIM, emphasized that telecommunications companies need to promptly build reliable infrastructure to meet the dynamic needs of customers.

BATIC 2023 served as a networking and discussion platform for participants from various backgrounds. In the future, it is not unlikely that this event could lead to concrete business collaborations.

Telin serves as an example of this potential. Telkom's subsidiary officially formed a partnership with PT Citranet Sarana Digital (CitraConnect), marked by the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU). Additionally, Telin collaborated on underwater cable internet connectivity in Nongsa Digital Park (NDP).

NDP serves as an underwater cable connectivity infrastructure aimed at being a digital ecosystem hub in Indonesia and Southeast Asia. In the future, both Telin and CitraConnect will harness the potential of underwater cable technology for broadband data transmission.

This project is expected to make a significant contribution to the growth of communication networks and the promotion of technological advancement. "Through this collaboration, we will provide high-quality broadband internet connectivity for customers," said Budi.
