Reproved by Rini, Pertamina-PLN agree on Steam Price for Kamojang
KATADATA - After the debate of Pertamina and Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) in the media about the hot steam price for the geothermal energy power plant in Kamojang 1, 2, and 3, West Java, both sides have come into agreement because Rini Soemarno, the State-owned Enterprises Minister, reproved them.
Edwin Hidayat Abdullah, the deputy for Energy, Logistics, and Tourism Business of the State-owned Enterprises Ministry, said that the minister called both of the firms in for a meeting. As the result of the meeting, it has been decided that the price for the hot steam is to be at US$ 6 cent per kWh, because there is an audit of the Development Finance Comptroller (BPKP) regarding the geothermal power plant in Kamojang 5. The result of the audit can tell the reasonable steam price for the Kamojang 1, 2, and 3.
Previously, PLN has postponed the plan to buy the steam from Pertamina because the price was considered to be ridiculous (US$6.2 cent per kWh). However, Pertamina’s VP for corporate communication Wianda Pusponegoro said that the price offered by Pertamina is reasonable and that there has not been any hikes. But now, after the minister helped to solve this matter, the price has been decided and both firms will make their own statements regarding their agreement.
