KATADATA ? PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia Tbk (Telkom) plans to expand its business into the Middle East by the end of 2014. The company has set aside an investment fund of IDR1 trillion of its operational expenditure.

?Telkom will look for a business partner there, particularly a local company that has established a network,? said Telkom?s CEO Arief Yahya as quoted by Investor Daily, on Friday (8/22).

According to him, the company chooses to expand into the Middle East due to a large number of Indonesians living in the area. The number of people living in the area is expected to reach 2 million people. The development of mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) will lead the expansion into the Middle East.

In addition to the Middle East, Telkom will also expand into Taiwan. Until now, the largest telecommunication company in Indonesia has expanded its business into Hong Kong, Malaysia, and China that host large number of Indonesians.
