Off The Script with Gundy Cahyadi presents Teguh Yudo Wicaksono, Head of Mandiri Institute. The Mandiri Institute is the research arm of the Bank Mandiri Group, set up to help boost financial inclusion and financial deepening in Indonesia.
An experienced policy advisor in Indonesia, Yudo has twenty years of experience across public policy and economic development. Before joining the Mandiri Institute, Yudo has held various positions in the World Bank, the ADB as well as ILO and Unicef.
Gundy and Yudo discussed insights from the recent launch of Mandiri Institute’s report on the state of sustainable investing in Indonesia. While it is clear that most fund managers have invested or planning to invest alongside ESG theme, financial market instruments are still relatively limited.
It is also interesting to note that in the survey of companies, majority of listed companies continue to prioritize the governance element of ESG. On the contrary, most private companies seem to be more focused on the environment and social perspectives of ESG.
Indonesia’s G20 presidency has raised a lot of interest on sustainable development. Yudo also expressed his optimism that both the government and corporate Indonesia are committed to shift their actions towards a more ESG-compliant roadmap. And the growth in sustainable finance will help towards this direction.
