Zendaya dan Squid Game Cetak Sejarah
Squid Game terus mencetak sejarah setelah penayangannya di Netflix pada 17 September 2021 lalu. Serial ini menjadi acara berbahasa non-Inggris pertama yang mendapatkan nominasi di Emmy Awards.
Squid Game memperoleh total 14 nominasi Emmy Awards 2022, termasuk Lee Jung Jae untuk aktor utama, Jung Ho Yeon untuk aktris pendukung, Park Hae Soo dan Oh Yeong Su untuk aktor pendukung dan Lee You Mi untuk aktris tamu.
Dikutip dari Variety, hingga tahun ini proyek non-Inggris belum pernah memenangkan atau bahkan dinominasikan dalam kategori utama di SAG Awards, Golden Globes dan Emmy Awards. Namun hal itu berubah sejak penayangan Squid Game dan langsung bertengger di berbagai ajang penghargaan bergengsi.
Di sisi lain, Zendaya juga kembali membuat sejarah karena aktingnya di Euphoria. Dia menjadi nominasi termuda selama dua tahun berturut-turut. Di tahun 2021 lalu, pacar Tom Holland ini sebagai wanita termuda yang memenangkan Emmy untuk aktris terbaik dalam serial drama. Di tahun ini, ia dinominasikan untuk aktris utama terbaik dalam serial drama.
Untuk tahun ini, serial Succession (HBO) menjadi acara televisi dengan nominasi terbanyak yakni mendapat 25 nominasi, lalu Ted Lasso (Apple TV) dan The White Lotus (HBO) dengan 20 nominasi. Acara puncak Emmy Awards 2022 akan digelar pada 12 September mendatang.
