Ciri-ciri Simple Past Tense
Simple past tense wajib dipahami sehingga tidak keliru dalam membuat kalimat. Berikut ini ciri-ciri simple past tense untuk memudahkan dalam mengidentifikasinya:
1. Simple Past Tense, atau yang juga dikenal sebagai past simple, selalu memanfaatkan kata kerja ke-2 (verb 2) baik dari kata kerja beraturan (regular verb) maupun kata kerja tidak beraturan (irregular verb), untuk menunjukkan bahwa suatu aktivitas telah terjadi di masa lampau.
2. Terdapat penggunaan kata "was" untuk singular pronoun seperti I, he, she, it, dan "were" untuk plural pronoun seperti we, you, they sebagai bentuk to be pada masa lampau.
3. Adanya penggunaan keterangan waktu yang menjelaskan masa lampau, seperti last night, yesterday, two weeks ago, three days ago, dan last month.
